Residence permit questions
I mentioned the residence permit regulations in my article, dated 22 Jan. However, questions continue to arrive on the same subject. The first of these questions is from Mohammad Ayaz. He asks;
“Dear Sir;
I read your article on the web on residence permit rules 2011. I am a Pakistani graduated from Bogazici University in 1985 as an electrical (electronics) engineer and at that time stayed here for six and a half years. I have come to Turkey after 25 years in September 2010 and have just got a residence permit for 15 days from Emniyet. Actually now I have a job offer from a Turkish firm. I want to apply to Ministry of Labour for work permit but I think I need a residence permit which is valid for 6 months. Kindly let me know how I can apply for a 6 month residence permit or renew mine for 6 months enabling me to conform to Ministry of Labour requirements. Best regards, Mohammad Ayaz.”
Dear Mohammad Ayaz, before the work permit application, you have to apply to long term residence permit. However, before the application, you have to open the bank account (at Turkish bank) and deposit 300 $ for each month. You have to deposit 1800 $ for six months. Then, you can apply to long term residence permit. For application, you should prepare these documents;
- Residence declaration form (ikamet beyanname formu),
- 4 photographs,
- Your passport,
- Your passport photocopy and
- Bank account document.
After receiving the six month residence permit, you can apply to work permit.
The residence permit renewal
The second question about residence permit is from Richard. He says;
“Hello Sir,
Can you answer some questions for me? I have lived in Turkey for, what will be in September 2011, 5 years. What are the options left to me after my 5 years are completed? Are the residency permit fees/restrictions about to change, as they have done for some Baltic countries? Will I be able to apply for my Turkish Kimlik, as I have not exceeded the 6 months restriction, and what does that involve? I apologize for the number of questions, but am finding it difficult to get straight answers on these matters. If you are unable to answer these questions, can you please forward them to someone who can. Kind Regards, Richard.”
Dear Richard, I do not forward your questions to anyone. I try to answer as I can myself. After the expiry of the residence permit, you can renew it for four times. However, you must apply again to the security authorities within fifteen days of the expiration of permit. As in the first residence permit, the renewal application must be made to the local security directorate (Emniyet Müdürlüğü). For the Baltic states did not any change about residence permit.
